Buying and Selling Books

Selling To Us

We purchase single volumes through to collections, and offer good, competitive prices. We pursue a selective buying policy whereby rarity, condition, subject and age are important factors in determining whether or not your books would be of interest. If local to our area we are happy to call and view books at mutual convenience, if you are some distance away we would advise emailing a brief description of what you have to sell along with images if possible. If arranging to bring books to us in Cartmel, please do call ahead to make sure someone is available on site. All selling enquiries welcome by email or phone. Please refer to our gallery page for some examples of the types of books we would be interested in buying.

Terms of Sale:

All prices are net. We accept cheques, bank transfer or payment via Paypal, but do not take credit or debit cards direct by phone/email. Postage on all orders to be advised. We are insured against loss of orders whilst in transit. Images of a wide selection of our books are now available online and we can provide further images on request, however we believe our descriptions are fair and accurate. As members of the leading professional bookselling association (Antiquarian Booksellers Association) we operate in accordance with their Code of Good Practice. Any book found not to be as described may be returned within 14 days of receipt and we will negotiate a refund as necessary. We need to be notified of any return in advance of shipping.

Postage & Shipping:

Orders usually ship within 1-2 business days of processing. Shipping costs are based on books weighing up to 1 KG. If your book order weighs over 1kg or is particularly heavy or oversized, we will contact you to inform you that extra shipping is required. Shipping rates may alter depending on requested delivery destination and/or date. If you require tracking for your order please contact us in advance. The majority of our postage/shipping is sent via Royal Mail services or courier firms like DHL or ParcelForce. If concerned about shipping costs please contact us direct to confirm charges before placing an order.
